San Diego Armada Rugby
SDARFC is a gender-inclusive rugby union club, based in San Diego, CA. The Bingham Cup is the biennial world championships of gay and inclusive rugby. The design pays homage to Ottawa's First Nations tribes: Algonquin, Ojibwe, Mohawk, and Cree. Each tribe is represented in the design; turquoise on the sleeves to represent Algonquin beadwork, both Ojibwe and Cree use birchbark (the inspiration for the sleeve pattern) to build canoes, and maple leaves to represent the Mohawk annual Maple Ceremony. Along the bottom is an abstract eagle-feather pattern, highly revered creatures in both Canada and America. This design is dedicated to First Nations sovereignty, in light of the recently unearthed mass gravesites at Residential Schools across the nation.
