Hufflepuff Bookends
2020
Stained, waxed, and buffed Douglas Fir + custom-oxidized zinc fittings. This was a fun project - it was nice getting back into working with my hands. This project took a lot of meticulousness and patience, reminding me why I fell in love with working with wood. On this commission, I finally fulfilled a lifelong goal of oxidizing metal by hand! Growing up as a grunge skater kid, I was always obsessed with grunge aesthetic – little Me jumped with joy when the chemical reaction was successful.
I no longer support JK Rowling, due to her anti-Trans, hateful propaganda. I've since had one additional request for Hufflepuff bookends, and turned it down. Outside of the theme, this project was beyond fun!

Round Wall Clock
2013
Carved from Roasted Oak, Purpleheart, and Alder woods. I installed the clock mechanism and bend the hands by hand, making them flush against the clock-face.
This piece won 2nd place in the 2013 San Diego County Fair, high-school sector.
Cedar File Box
2012
Made completely of Cedar wood, with brass fittings. My initial design involved Cedar handles, but I chose to pivot to brass after nearly losing a finger in the carving process. This was my first-ever woodworking project! I'm beyond proud of how it turned out – the wood is so soft!
This piece won 3rd place in the 2012 San Diego County Fair, high-school sector.
